You want to start an Internet business selling retail products on your website. You don’t have the space or the money to stock inventory or the tools you need to service the customers after they purchase a product from you, so you contact a dropshipper to help you do the things you’re unable to do.

A dropshipper is a drop ship wholesale supplier who will sell you a product at a wholesale price and send it directly to your customer after the customer pays you. 1. Good breakdown of dropshipping!

You’re right. The problem of middlemen is huge. I’ve seen prospective business owners who wanted to get involved with dropshippers hunt to particular products, but all they could find were other businesses that were already hooked up with that particular manufacturer.

Then they come across one that poses as the manufacturer and squeezes all the profits out of that reseller’s sales.

I’ve directed some manufacturers to legitimate dropship directories and gotten them in. And I’ve always been impressed with the lengths that the legitmate ones go to ensure that the manufacturer is indeed the manufacturer.

When I talk to new business owners, I lay out how to hunt for dropshippers on their own, but I always advise them to spend the money needed to ensure they have access to legitmate dropshippers and not just middlemen.
